Did you realise that learning classical playing techniques and classical theory can be inappropriate for those of you who are not interested in learning how to play classical music?
While classical theory is, of course, a wonderful and rich endevour for those students who have the time and desire to go down this path - it is not the only way to learn how to play the Piano.
Many new, intermediate and even advanced Piano students are interested in playing pop, jazz, r'n'b, rock, blues and other contemporary music styles - yet many don't realise that they don't have to get bogged down in the complications of classical music theory.
There is nothing wrong with classical music theory and techniques - of course not. What is wrong is that the level with which these techniques are being taught is totally unbalanced when compared with the actual number of students who are interested in learning classical music.
For the vast majority of students - THERE IS AN EASIER WAY.

Piano Lesson Software
Playing the Piano is one of the most rewarding things that you can do in your life. The gift of playing music is available to us all, however, few people who have the desire to play the Piano ever get around to doing something about it.
There are a few reasons for this, however, I believe that the main reason is the hold that classical music theory has had on Piano teaching methods over the years. While learning extensive and complicated music theory, the manipulation of every scale under the sun, and classical playing techniques are very worthwhile things to know for any Piano player - I think that the complications of traditional classical music theory puts off a lot of beginner Piano players before they even begin.
You do not have to know complicated music theory to begin playing the Piano.
There are methods out there that can teach you to play your favorite songs as you are learning. This way you can have fun from the very beginning and learn at the same time. The complications of theory can be learned later on, in a steady and gradual process - or not at all if you don't want to.
Classical music can be very beautiful, very inspiring, and holds the key to a lot of the aspects that make up the richness of music. The truth, however, is that a lot of people who are learning the Piano do not want to learn classical music (at least not at first). By learning your favorite pop, jazz, r'n'b, and rock songs - you can learn how to play from the inside out - and have a lot of fun at the same time.
